Ryder Ripps hires lawyers ahead of legal showdown with Bored Ape’s Yuga Labs

Boring ape critic Ryder Ripps and NFT Marketplace founder Jeremy Kaen have secured the services of a lawyer for an upcoming court battle with Yuga Labs.

According to the press statement, Ripps has adopted the services of Louis Tompros of Wilmer Hale and Alfred Steiner of Meister & Steiner PLLC.

Tompros is famous for representing Matt Furie, the creator of “Pepe the Frog,” in copyright proceedings against alt-right figures and groups. At the same time, Steiner is an expert in NFT and intellectual property law.

The press statement said:

Yuga abuses the court system to selectively punish and silence Lips and Kaen, creating art against their lies and unethical behaviour.

However, Lips and Kaen believe that the court protects the right to free speech.

Yuga Labs filed a proceeding against Ryder Ripps in the US District Court in Central California on June 25.

The company claims that Ripps deliberately devalued the Bored Ape NFT by flooding the market with similar collections created using the original Bored Ape images. The Ripps collection is called the “RR / BAYC” NFT.

At the time of press, the minimum charge for Bored ApeNFT is 95ETH ($ 104,000), while the minimum charge for RR / BAYC is 0.185ETH ($ 203).

Meanwhile, Lips Reportedly He said it would settle the proceedings only if he received a $ 100 billion payment because it caused him so much pain.
