Sapphire Configures a Radeon RX 6500 XT With 8GB VRAM

Sapphire was surprised to announce the new Radeon RX 6500XT configuration with 8GB of memory. Earlier entry-level graphics cards come with twice the 4GB allocation of the original model. There are no other substantial changes. The GPU and memory performance specifications are basically the same, but adding VRAM is expected to increase the price. The RX 6500 XT has won the spotlight among the best graphics cards, mainly due to its affordability, but wants to spend a little more money to use a faster GPU.

The AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT had a hard time launching because it was widely rejected due to lack of power and functionality. However, both Intel and Nvidia seem to have tried to look like champions by releasing competing graphics cards such as the ArcA380 and RTX1630 during the interim period. AMD’s own Radeon RX6400 also makes the RX6500XT look like a very muscular product.

When testing the RX 6500 XT, memory capacity wasn’t our main concern. I noticed that the specs and features have been significantly cut since the RX6600. Sure, I was worried about the memory configuration, but it was a 64-bit bus, not just 4GB. There was even more concern about using PCIe x4 connections (not terrible with PCIe 4.0, but especially with older generation systems with slower PCIe standards). In addition, the display connection was limited (one HDMI and DisplayPort), and finally the hardware was completely scarce. Video encoding support. Simply put, no one requested the addition of VRAM, except for Sapphire’s marketing department.

Above you can see exactly what Sapphire has changed on the Pulse RX 6500XT model. The GPU’s maximum boost clock speed is technically 1% faster, but it can reasonably be explained to be negligible.

Most people play the latest AAA games on the 6500XT with lower settings, as entry-level GPUs also lower VRAM requirements. Larger memory capacity is useful for some games with certain settings (textures, shadow resolutions, etc.), but GPU computing power and memory bandwidth quickly become a bottleneck.

Sapphire tweeted (Opens in a new tab) The new Pulse Radeon RX 6500XT 8GB is currently on the shelf. I couldn’t find one for sale. That is, there is no price yet.Considering that, it becomes an important factor RX 6500XT 4GB from $ 189 (Opens in a new tab)Although it is significantly faster RX66008GB starts at $ 279 (Opens in a new tab)And the lowest price Sapphire RX 6500XT 4GB is $ 199 (Opens in a new tab)..

For reference, in the GPU benchmark, the RX6600 is 80% faster than the RX6500 XT at 1080p medium and more than twice as fast at 1080p ultra, making it a much higher performance GPU overall. This is because the GPU core is increased by 75% and the width of the memory interface is doubled. Both of these are important for real game performance. It also has an x8 PCIe interface, supports up to 4 monitors, and supports full hardware video encoding.
