Seagate FireCuda 8TB HDD Review: A Solid Storage Solution

The Seagate FireCuda is a well-designed mechanical hard drive that delivers the performance you expect and comes with Seagate’s excellent warranty. Seagate didn’t compromise on this design, combining high-performance CMR technology with a spindle speed of 7200 RPM. It also offers a sweet spot of 8 TB of capacity at an affordable price per TB, making it ideal for general desktop use. If you’re concerned about cost, heat and noise, there’s a reason to go all the way down to 5400/5640 RPM and that’s where 8TB WD Blue comes in. However, FireCuda offers the best all-around package available today.

Seagate hasn’t had a very good reputation for HDD reliability in the past, but warranty flaws are hard to find. The Seagate FireCuda has a standard 5-year warranty that includes Seagate’s 3-year Rescue Data Recovery Services, which includes his one data recovery attempt (Seagate claims a 90% relatively good claims to have a strong track record of recovery). Seagate also offers software that covers the most common storage processes, making FireCuda a drop-in solution. It’s not the fastest drive on the market, but its performance is more than enough for general storage use. The biggest drawback is probably that it doesn’t come in large quantities.
