Solana active developers decline 90% in 2022, but SOL devs dispute findings
According to Token Terminal data, Solana’s (SOL) active developers have fallen by more than 90% to 75 developers from around 2,500 recorded in January.
The number of developers within the Solana ecosystem peaked at 2,453 on January 9, according to data aggregators. Since then, their numbers have declined sharply.
Token Terminal determines active developers based on their ecosystem through “the number of distinct GitHub users who have committed at least once to the project’s GitHub repository in the last 30 days.”
Solana developers disagree
Developers within the Solana ecosystem do not consent to data from aggregators.

Tuan Pham Minh, software engineer at Kyber Network, wrote:
“You only use a single closed data source to provide analytics.”
Other developers like Jac0xb said:
“Those numbers are garbage. Ethereum only has 250 developers LOL? Solana only has 75 LOL? You may have just misunderstood. “

Ethereum developers outperform other top blockchains
TokenTerminal data suggests more developers are active every day on Ethereum than on any other blockchain network.
According to data, as of December 16, Ethereum (ETH) has 194 active developers and Cardano (ADA) has 143 developers. Other networks with over 100 developers daily include Polkadot (DOT), Internet Computer (ICP), Kusama (KSM), and Cosmos (ATOM). Bitcoin (BTC) had just 16 active daily developers.
On the other hand, Bitcoin Core’s monthly average number of unique active developers reportedly fluctuates between 40 and 60.
