Streacom’s SG10 Passive Cooling Case Can Handle Even a GeForce RTX 4080 without Fans

Heading into Computex 2023, Streacom is demonstrating the SG10 passively cooled PC chassis that can house high-end PCs without the need for active cooling fans. The SG10 case is designed for serious gaming PCs, effectively using part of the case as a giant heatsink instead of traditional fans and airflow dynamics through the case to generate heat up to 600W. has been evaluated to passively dissipate

In addition to being pretty heavy metal in its own right, internally it’s Streams’ SG10 is based on loop heat pipe technology with a coolant featuring a very low evaporation point (assumed to be 40°C to 50°C). Steamcom uses an evaporator to circulate liquid throughout the system and a condenser to dissipate heat. When the temperature of the CPU or GPU reaches a high enough level, the coolant turns into a gas and flows through tubes towards the condenser. There it returns to its liquid state and returns to the water block. Importantly, this means that no mechanical pump is involved.

The SG10 chassis has two cooling loops with two separate condensers. One for CPUs rated up to 250W TDP (enough for an Intel Core i9-13900K) and one for GPUs rated up to 350W TDP (enough for NVIDIA’s GeForce). RTX4080). Both CPU and GPU cooling loops are identical in every way, except for the way they connect to their respective processors. Off-the-shelf CPUs have his IHS attached, but GPUs don’t have that cap (designed to make direct contact with their respective coolers), so Steacom’s water block has a similar There are contact restrictions. All of this means that CPU blocks have a substantially lower performance rating. On the other hand, as with all custom GPU coolers, the customer needs to make sure his SG10’s block fits the respective card.

One of the main challenges of all passive chassis is connecting the water blocks to their respective processors. Due to the flexibility of loop heat pipes, Streacom has solved this challenge in a very elegant way by using standard stainless steel or rubber pipes used in all closed loop liquid coolers.

As far as aesthetics of the SG10 chassis go, the case looks pretty solid, with windows on either side to reveal all the addressable RGB LEDs found in modern PC components. The chassis is large enough to accommodate an ATX motherboard, a graphics card up to 280mm long, and five of his 3.5″/2.5″ storage drives.

One of the features of the SG10 is that the motherboard and graphics card are installed diagonally. This complicates the connection of monitors and peripherals. On the positive side, it fits ATX power supplies regardless of depth, has a front I/O panel with one USB Type-C connector and two USB Type-A connectors, and an optional rear I/O panel That’s it. O-panel with HDMI, Ethernet and USB ports.

The chassis is configured to have ample cooling capacity for modern gaming CPUs and GPUs, but for better performance (and possibly better compatibility with hotter processors and graphics cards) , it is also possible to install an additional 120 mm fan under the condenser.

according to tom’s hardware, the production of the Streacom SG10 is scheduled to start this year. Expected price for this case and all required cooling assemblies is around $999.
