A new update to the @wallet bot allows Telegram users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies within the app. In April, TON (short for “The Open Network”) cryptocurrency Get your own @wallet bot on Telegram’s open WebApps platformallows users to buy, sell and trade TONCoin (TON) without leaving the chat application.
A team of independent TON developers have released a full-fledged cryptocurrency wallet within the chat app. This new addition allows users to conduct cryptocurrency transactions directly with each other, with the service acting as a third-party guarantor.
Instead of sending crypto to another address, you only need the recipient’s Telegram handle to transfer Toncoin. The @wallet bot works similarly to a banking app, allowing users to buy her Toncoin using a credit or debit card within her Telegram. Users can also buy and sell Toncoin using fiat currencies such as US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH), Belarusian Rubel BYN, Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT).
Open Network (TON) was developed in 2018 by Parel Durov and Nikolai Durov, founders of Telegram messaging app. Ultimately, the creators of the project handed it over to the TON community, and the group has been responsible for extending and improving it ever since. A group of non-profit supporters then came together to form the TON Foundation. Its role was to oversee the development of the TON blockchain.
The TON development community built a @wallet bot to facilitate cryptocurrency trading within Telegram. Since its introduction, usage of @wallet has grown significantly, with over 1 million wallets created and generating $5 million in revenue each quarter.
The @wallet team told CryptoSlate about developing the Telegram trading bot:
“Launching the P2P marketplace is another step towards our main goal of creating a full-fledged crypto wallet integrated into Telegram via bots.”
The developer’s aim was to build a cryptocurrency wallet that is user-friendly and easy to use for everyday people. The @wallet team told his CryptoSlate: continuation:
