Federal officials Thursday arrested two people in Miami on suspicion of illegally profiting from a deal ahead of a planned fall 2021 merger of former President Donald J. Trump’s social media company and a well-funded public shell company. Three people who were briefed on the matter revealed that they did. Those who were not authorized to speak publicly.
The arrest follows a lengthy investigation by federal prosecutors in Manhattan into the securities trading of Digital World Acquisition Group, a so-called special-purpose acquisition firm.
Neither of those arrested is said to have any connection to Trump or to Trump Media & Technology Company, the parent company of Trump’s right-wing social media platform Truth Social. . Said.
