UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak aims to update government guidelines on regulating artificial intelligence (AI) and its development. Guardian report May 26th.

The Guardian reported that the Sunak government released a white paper in March, but that the proposals in the document are now outdated.
Going forward, the Sunak government may tighten regulations in response to new developments. A government spokesman said the regulation was aimed at ensuring public safety, saying “some of this technology is advancing so rapidly that it is unknown.”
Sunak met with leaders in the AI sector, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google DeepMind CEO. Demis Hassabis upon May 24th. He then met with Google CEO Sundar Pinchai on May 26. Other regions also regulate AI
Other jurisdictions are already trying to regulate the industry. Italy was one of the first countries to block ChatGPT in April and lifted the ban in May.
