Valve, via Official Tweet (Opens in a new tab)Encourages Steam Deck owners not to play games on their devices outside of scorching weather. Warnings occur as a result of heat waves being cooked in the United Kingdom and Europe.
The makers of Steam Deck emphasize that handheld gaming devices perform best at ambient temperatures between 0 and 35 degrees Celsius. This is a record high for the UK.
Valve explains that the custom quad-core AMD APU (codenamed Aerith) in Steam Deck works without faults up to 100 degrees Celsius. When the temperature exceeds that threshold, Steam Deck suppresses the chip and reduces overall performance. In the worst-case scenario where temperatures reach 105 degrees Celsius, Steam Deck will be completely powered off to prevent overheating and protect device integrity.
Valves are not the first manufacturer to recommend customers not to use their devices in sizzling environments. one week before, Nintendo on Twitter (Opens in a new tab) A similar warning is issued to the owner of Nintendo Switch.
