In this sequence, Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) attends a party at the home of one of her classmates. Things take a turn for the worse when Nancy (Elle Graham) suggests a game to the group. All girls are given a number. The boys draw those numbers out of the bowl. Her two with matching numbers retreat to the closet (in this case the guest bathroom) for her two minutes.

Director and screenwriter Kelly Fremont Craig staged the scene in an elevated manner, creating a thriller-like intensity while also acting out key moments of laughter.

“We made a conscious decision where we put all the actors,” Craig said in an interview. Because it mattered how far they had to walk to get to each other and how far Margaret had to walk to go to the bathroom. all of them.

In addition to the blocking, a combination of performances, lighting and music selection will bring the scene together, and Dusty Springfield’s hit “Son of a Preacher Man” will bring the scene to life.

“This was the luckiest I’ve ever dropped a needle,” Craig said, recalling that she and her editor haphazardly added songs during the editing process. It captured the moment so incredibly perfectly, in fact, it never moved a single frame since it first dropped.”
