What’s Next for Jack Harlow?

The rise of Jack Harlow has been one of the most interesting stories in hip-hop over the last two years. So far in 2022 he has been a big hit. “first class,” He released his second major label album “Come Home the Kids Miss You” and made his debut in 3rd place. He is one of the biggest emerging stars in hip hop and is purely for centrist politics.

He is also white, which is inevitably a desolate territory. Harlow’s album wasn’t without problems. But more interesting is his purpose. Instead of becoming a crossover pop star that bypasses the mainstream of hip-hop, he’s trying to make the hip-hop version very different from his black pier and make it acceptable.

In this week’s pop cast, there’s a conversation about Harlow’s musical decisions, the touch-and-go aspects of his album development, and the long history of white rappers and the various degrees of embrace they’ve achieved.
