Yeston RTX 3080 10GB Plummets to $579 After Rebate
There’s been a lot of turmoil in the GPU sector lately. This means good news for gamers looking to upgrade their rigs. Ethereum his merge has made GPU mining unprofitable and GPU prices are steadily declining. Additionally, with the impending launch of his Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 series, the manufacturer is looking to wipe out its existing card inventory. This leads to Yeston offering his RTX 3080 10GB card for $779 via Newegg.
At face value, the price isn’t too exciting. After all, you can get a PNY RTX 3080 10GB XLR8 (opens in new tab) $717.99 at Best Buy. However, the Yeston card comes bundled with a $200 Newegg promotional gift card (effectively making the card $579).
Earlier on Tom’s Hardware we talked about the dangers of mail-in rebates. But that’s not the case with this campaign. According to Newegg, the $200 promotional gift card will be automatically emailed to him four days after the order is billed. On the downside, gift cards can only be redeemed on his Newegg.com and must be used within 90 days. But if you’re already thinking of another immediate purchase at Newegg, perhaps these restrictions aren’t going to be a real deterrent. And hopefully this card is a sign of further price cuts to come.
As for the Yeston card itself, its aesthetic is a mix of white, purple and pastel blue, so it’s clearly not for everyone. You’ll find a triple-fan design and the standard port layout of the RTX 3080 graphics card (one HDMI 2.0 and three DisplayPort connections). Also remember that this is the Light Hash Rate (LHR) version of the card. However, given the current state of Ethereum, I doubt this will be too much of an issue, especially for gamers. We’re seeing a base clock of 1.44GHz and a boost clock of 1.71GHz, so we would expect performance to mirror that of Nvidia’s RTX 3080 10GB Founders Edition.
That’s a pretty good deal for the current generation RTX 30 series cards, one of the best graphics cards for gaming, but keep in mind that the next generation RTX 40 series is coming soon. According to Nvidia, the lineup will initially consist of the $899 RTX 4080 12GB, $1,199 RTX 4080 16GB and $1,599 RTX 4090. The RTX 4090 will launch on October 12th, while the RTX 4080 12GB and RTX 4080 16GB are expected to launch in November.
