Zen 4 on 4nm in 2023, Zen 5 By End of 2024

As expected at AMD’s Financial Analyst Day (FAD), we usually receive small announcements about big things in the future. This includes an updated product roadmap for various segments such as desktop, server, graphics, and mobile. AMD’s latest notebook roadmap will continue until 2024, AMD will have a mobile Zen 4 core (Phoenix Point) available by the end of 2023, and Zen 5 will land on unspecified nodes by the end of 2024. Announced that it will be available for mobile.

Updated by 2024, the AMD Notebook Roadmap includes the Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 series with two mobile processors already available, Vega integrated graphics, and the latest Ryzen 6000 with Zen 3+ and the latest RDNA2 mobile graphics capabilities. Is emphasized. However, there are still many things to be announced from 2023.

Raise Phoenix from Rembrandt: Zen 4 MobileAKA Phoenix Points

What’s new and upcoming with the updated AMD Mobile Roadmap is the successor to AMD’s Rembrandt (Ryzen 6000), codenamed Phoenix Point. AMD Phoenix Points is based on AMD’s upcoming Zen 4 core architecture and will be built using TSMC’s 4nm process nodes. According to the roadmap, AMD’s Zen 4 Phoenix Point mobile processor uses an artificial intelligence engine (AIE) and AMD’s next-generation and next-generation RDNA3 integrated graphics.

Also announced: Zen5 mobile codename StrixPoint

The AMD notebook roadmap also includes the announcement of a Zen5-based platform codenamed StrixPoint for an unspecified manufacturing process. Although the details of Strix Point are minimal, AMD states that Strix Point will use AMD’s unreleased RDNA 3+ graphics technology.

Also, the PhoenixPoint and StrixPoint roadmap slides list the artificial intelligence engines (AIEs) that are more commonly found on mobile phones. The AI engine or AIE allows AMD to specify products based on tiling with adaptive interconnects. Still, it’s not yet clear how to integrate AIE into your notebook portfolio. We know that it is part of AMD’s XDNA Adaptive Architecture IP, which originated from the acquisition of Xilinx.

With an expected release date sometime in 2023, you’ll learn more about AMD’s PhoenixPoint, which is based on Zen4. We may hear more about StrixPoint using the unpublished Zen5 microarchitecture during the next year.
