Gigabyte Lists RTX 4070 with Different Memory Configs: Report
Gigabyte currently lists six different GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card models with various memory configurations on their Thai website. video cardsNvidia is rumored to officially announce the GeForce RTX 4070 in April, so Gigabyte’s listing could be a placeholder or even a typo, as the product’s actual specs may not be finalized. There is a possibility
Thai Gigabyte Game Bundle Giveaway includes GeForce RTX 4070 Aorus Master 12GB, GeForce RTX 4070 Eagle OC 12GB, GeForce RTX 4070 Gaming OC 10GB, GeForce RTX 4070 with 10GB, 12GB and 16GB GDDR6X memory An RTX 4070 is reportedly listed. Gaming OC 12GB, and GeForce RTX 4070 Gaming OC 16GB. I logged into his website at Gigabyte Thai and couldn’t find this giveaway, but it probably exists because the user shared it with his VideoCardz staff.
Nvidia’s standard GeForce RTX 4070 is expected to be based on an AD104 graphics processor with 5888 CUDA cores running at 1920 MHz to 2475 MHz and a 192-bit memory bus. If the board must use 16Gb (2GB) GDDR6X memory chips, the only possible configurations with a 192-bit memory interface are 12GB (using 6 ICs) and 24GB (using 12 ICs).
row 0 – cell 0 | GPUs | FP32 CUDA core | memory configuration | TBP | Manufacturer’s suggested retail price |
GeForce RTX 4090 Ti | AD102 | 18176 (?) | 24GB 384bit 24GT/s GDDR6X (?) | 600W (?) | ? |
GeForce RTX 4090 | AD102 | 16384 | 24GB 384bit 21GT/s GDDR6X | 450W | $1,599 |
GeForce RTX 4080 | AD103 | 9728 | 16GB 256bit 22.4GT/s GDDR6X | 320W | $1,199 |
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti | AD104 | 7680 | 12GB 192bit 21GT/s GDDR6X | 285W | $799 |
GeForce RTX 4070 | AD104 | 5888 (?) | 12GB 192bit 21GT/s GDDR6X | 250W (?) | ? |
GeForce RTX 4060 Ti | AD106 | 4352 (?) | 8GB 128bit 18GT/s GDDR6 | 160W (?) | <$500? |
GeForce RTX 3070 | GA104 | 5888 | 8GB 256bit 14GT/s GDDR6 | 220W | $499 |
For 10GB, AD104 based products will have to move to a 160-bit memory interface. This is possible, but at the cost of memory bandwidth. On the other hand, the AD104 physically lacks a 256-bit memory interface to support 16GB configurations without using fancy memory configurations.
For now, Gigabyte seems to be listing various versions of the GeForce RTX 4070. This is because Nvidia is considering or considering various configurations of his GeForce RTX 4070 product, including 10GB and 12GB versions. On the other hand, an AD104-based product with a 192-bit memory interface he supports 16GB of memory without using fancy memory configurations and in some cases impossible to repeat. GeForce RTX 970 4GB debacleat least based on what I know about AD104.
All the GeForce RTX 4070 boards with different memory configurations could join some of the best graphics cards available, but it looks like only the 12GB version will hit the market. Still, we’ll have to wait until later this year (probably April).
