Asus’s RTX 4080 Noctua OC Edition Is Officially Available, Officially Huge
Asus has teamed up with Noctua again to bring a special brown and tan-themed version of the RTX 4080 to market. The 4080, although expensive, is already competing with the best graphics cards. We have a sample Noctua card on hand and will review it soon, but we don’t expect it to be much different from his vanilla RTX 4080 Founders Edition in terms of performance. Ray he is second in tracing. Instead, this card is all about aesthetics and hopefully relative tranquility.
The underlying hardware has definitely changed quite a bit, but the new RTX 4080 Noctua OC Edition looks pretty much the same as the Asus RTX 3070 Noctua Edition we reviewed last year. Other than we decided it wasn’t that big, the new RTX 4080 Noctua measures 310 x 145 x 87.5 mm and takes up 4.3 slots worth of case space. Good thing most people don’t plug in expansion cards other than his GPU these days. This is because only the bottom slot or two of a typical ATX board is accessible with this card installed. However, you can try the PCIe riser solution. .
The front of the Asus box is as featureless as the card itself, with a large blank area on the top right. This may be for future product quoting, but in that case there is one. — Tom’s Hardware.
But seriously, you either look at this card and find it incredibly boring, or you just love the minimalist brown-themed aesthetic. .

As you can imagine, there are very few differences in the raw specs of the Asus cards from the Founders Edition, other than the clock speeds and resulting TFLOPS. Nvidia’s reference clock is 2,505 MHz on the RTX 4080, and the Noctua card (in OC mode) boosts that to 2,625 MHz. In theory, this is a 4.8% increase in GPU clock, but we’ll have to see how it works in practice.
Nvidia, as usual, is pretty conservative when it comes to rated clock speeds. For example, across our test suite of 15 games, the RTX 4080 Founders Edition averaged 2,720 MHz up to 2,820 MHz. Once we start testing, we should see how high the clocks are on our Asus Noctua cards.Tests will start shortly.Other aspects such as noise levels are also checked, but we haven’t seen much difference in graphics performance yet. I can’t wait.
As you can imagine, two large Noctua NF-A12x25 fans dominate the front of the card. They are designed for good airflow and low noise levels, and in combination with vapor chambers and large radiators, you can expect good results in temperature and noise test results.
Naturally, all other aspects of the Nvidia Ada Lovelace architecture are present, including DLSS 3 support. You could say you chose to enable DLSS 3 while playing. Hogwarts Legacy, just because you can max out all settings at 4K while running at 60+ fps. It also uses the DLSS quality mode upscaling, so a higher upscaling factor may result in even better performance (at the expense of visual fidelity). I’m still not convinced that I actually get 50-80% higher framerates. felt the game is certainly appear smoother.
As you probably guessed, the Asus RTX 4080 Noctua OC Edition doesn’t come cheap. Nvidia’s base price is $1,199, and Asus’ higher-end models usually carry a hefty premium. The 4080 Noctua OC has an official suggested retail price of $1,649, nearly 40% more than the baseline model. And many RTX 4080 cards start very close to MSRP. MSI RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC (opens in new tab) actually sells for $8 under Manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
If Noctua is too rich for your blood, Asus $1,199 for RTX 4080 TUF games (opens in new tab)and Amazon has RTX 4080 TUF Gaming OC (opens in new tab) for the same price. On the other hand, the base model RTX 4080 ROG Strix $1,459 at Newegg (opens in new tab),on the other hand The RTX 4080 ROG Strix OC is priced at $1,474 on Amazon (opens in new tab). lastly, 4080 ROG Strix White is $1,599 at B&H (opens in new tab)The Strix OC card has a boost clock of 2,655 MHz compared to the Noctua version, but the last 30 MHz is less significant.
Again, this is big card and easily overwhelms the RTX 4080 Founders Edition. RTX 4080 Noctua cards have been announced and should go on sale today, but these are likely to be in limited numbers so they are relatively rare. Only 5 RTX 3070 Noctua cards sold compared to 182 sold. This doesn’t essentially mean that Asus makes 35 times more of his Strix cards than his Noctua cards for his 3070, but the Noctua cards are harder to find. It is certain that it will be
