AI dApp Harvester Keeper gets hacked for almost $1M

A recently launched AI trading app called Harvest Keeper exfiltrated nearly $1 million in user funds in a series of ice phishing and functional attacks on the blockchain.

An AI-based dApp that promised high returns to investors has turned out to be a scam, according to multiple crypto security firms. Includes CertiK.

Malicious Persons and Ice Phishing

According to CertiK, it used the privileged getAmount function to empty the Harvest Keeper contract and transfer over $700,000 in USDT to an unknown address.

Meanwhile, a smaller amount was stolen through ice phishing transactions on BSC, Ethereum, and Polygon, resulting in a loss of approximately $219,000. Ice phishing is a type of Web3 attack that tricks users into manually granting permissions by signing and approving requests.

Recent events have left users in a state of distress, with many expressing frustration within the crypto community, with some seeking help from Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.

What is Harvest Keeper AI?

Harvest Keeper, founded earlier this year, was claimed to be able to maximize cryptocurrency trading via AI algorithms. Harvest Keeper founder Markus Peters said:

“[Harvest Keeper’s] The decentralized protocol uses built-in artificial intelligence to analyze patterns such as risks, news sources, and many other factors that influence pricing of various crypto assets and interact with trading bots. ”

The AI dApp was pitched as “an innovative project based on artificial intelligence that completely removes the human factor from trading and creates opportunities to generate profits 24 hours a day.” According to the project claims, the user could see his investment grow to 101% of his 4.81% daily reward within 3 weeks.
