AMD Integrated Radeon 780M 25% Faster Than RDNA 2 Predecessor

The first benchmark results for the RDNA 3 graphics architecture AMD Radeon 780M were revealed at a Chinese tech forum. Bilibili User Golden Pig Upgrade Pack (GPUP) claim He tested an AMD APU with a Radeon 780M iGPU with 3DMark Time Spy.

Interestingly, PC tech enthusiasts have run at least two separate tests on two systems to see how different memory configurations affect graphics performance. At its best, the new 780M is over 25% faster than its predecessor (RDNA 2 graphics architecture 680M) and within touching distance of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 laptop GPU.

Whether the above performance test results are real or not, the upcoming Radeon 780M is almost certain to be the fastest iGPU available from any vendor, making it a first for PC system buyers and DIY enthusiasts. It will be an RDNA 3 iGPU.

The Radeon 780M and 760M were announced by AMD at CES 2023 last month as the main draw for their latest Ryzen 7040 series Phoenix family APUs for “ultimate ultra-thin” performance. AMD’s new iGPU flagship, the all-new RDNA 3-based Radeon 780M, features 12 CUs (768 SP) and clock speeds of up to 3,000 MHz. The 760M, on the other hand, offers 8CUs (512 SPs) and clocks up to 2,800MHz.

So how did GPUP’s Radeon 780M sample perform? Below, we’ve tabulated results from both, including a handful of rivals and well-known desktop stalwarts, to provide a clear comparison.
