AMD to Make ‘New’ 2019-Era 3000G APUs to Sell Old Motherboards

AMD is reportedly spinning production of its 12nm Zen+ Ryzen 3000G APUs in a move that appears designed to spur sales of older mainstream AM4 motherboards. board channel (via video cards), AMD will produce as many as 30,000 new 3000G chips. However, it is not clear if these APUs will have specs changes at all or if it will be new stock of his existing Ryzen 5 3400G and Ryzen 3 3200G.

For those who might need a refresher on the details of mainstream CPUs in the 2019 era, the 3000G APU lineup consisted of just two chips: the Ryzen 3 3200G and the Ryzen 5 3400G. Both had 4 physical cores, while his 3400G at the higher end had his SMT enabled for 8 available threads. Both featured Vega graphics, but the 3400G featured more compute units (11) and faster clock speeds of up to 1400 MHz. And importantly, for anyone looking to pair one of these chips with a fully functional modern graphics card, both models were limited to eight PCIe 3.0 lanes. That’s it.

We were pretty positive about the 3400G, When reviewed in 2020calling it “a great niche piece of low-cost systems built around integrated graphics”, but that’s not exactly the case in 2023. The 3400G is still readily available, but At around $127, the Zen 3-based Raizen 5 5600G sell same price on amazon (opens in new tab)Clearly there are newer and better competitors. best CPU for gaming These days, even if you’re looking for something that’s obviously on a tight budget.
