Immutable, the web3 game company behind Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians, and ImmutableX, the game-optimized blockchain, announced “Immutable Passport” on January 31st.
Passport aims to be an “all-in-one wallet, gamer profile, onboarding and authentication solution” for web3 games. According to Immutable, the company’s customer survey confirmed that “ease of onboarding, security, compliance, and plug-and-play capabilities” are the main focuses for web3 game studios.
“Passport provides a no-custody solution that does not hold users’ private keys or participate in signing transactions. You get seamless certification across the board.”
We hope Passport will become as synonymous with web3 games as gamertags, Steam IDs, PSN IDs and Apple IDs in web2. User experience in web3 is notorious, and web3 games are often the exception. Web2 applications are optimized for a positive user experience, and Immutable “aims to remove the web3 onboarding hurdle” by simplifying account creation and management.
