G.Skill Pyramid PC Has Core i9-13900K Running at 7 GHz, RAM at 10,000 MT/s
G.Skill has announced a number of new DDR5 memory kits that rival the best RAM. But even more interesting is his custom liquid nitrogen-powered Pyramid PC, which exists to show off the company’s overclocking feats.
Computex 2023 is more than just a showcase for new products. Some vendors, such as G.Skill, invest heavily in this event and host mod and overclocking contests. At its booth, the company showed off a transparent pyramid-shaped system, the result of collaboration with Intel, Asus, and Elmorlabs. It is designed to demonstrate the power of Intel’s latest 13th Generation Raptor Lake processors, Z790 platform and DDR5 memory.
This build features a Core i9-13900K, an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Apex motherboard, and a single Trident Z5 RGB DDR5-8000 memory module. A Core i9-13900K powered by liquid nitrogen ran at 7 GHz and a DDR5-8000 memory module reached 10,000 MT/s. Unfortunately, he didn’t G.Skill break the world record this time around, as the current world record is his 11,201 MT/s. Nevertheless, it was still an impressive show of overclocking prowess by the Overclocking team.
Similar to what the company has done with its DDR4 lineup, G.Skill has given the Trident Z5 a royal treatment. The new Trident Z5 Royal Elite series features a luxurious looking heat spreader with a crystal and pyramid pattern. Also, his memory seems to be suitable for a king.
On the other hand, the Trident Z5 Royal series has a mirror finish while sticking to the vanilla design. The Trident Z5 Royal Elite and Trident Z5 Royal lineup are available in gold or silver trim. G.Skill did not disclose the specifications, but he said that the new DDR5 memory kits are expected to hit the retail market in the third quarter of this year.
G.Skill has also expanded some of the brand’s existing DDR5 memory portfolio with new color themes. The Trident Z5 RGB was previously limited to metallic silver or matte black heat spreaders. G.Skill showed off his two new options of heat his spreader in silver or gold with glossy reflective surfaces. Meanwhile, the Trident Z5 Neo RGB, which caters to the AMD platform, will debut in white.
Many high-end DDR5 memory kits were on display. More notable offerings include his DDR5-8800 and DDR5-8000 with 48GB (2x24GB) memory kit capacities and a CAS latency (CL) of 40.
G.Skill has expanded into new areas in recent years. At this year’s event, the company demonstrated the MD1, a spacious mid-tower case that can accommodate up to 40cm graphics cards, up to 17cm CPU air coolers, and up to two 360mm radiators. The motherboard support list includes form factors from mini-ITX to E-ATX. Additionally, the MD1 case features a mesh front panel for improved ventilation and a tempered glass side panel to display the hardware.
Regarding the AIO water cooler, G.Skill exhibited several units at the booth. The 360mm is just as eye-catching as his Trident Z5 Royal Elite from the same brand, with its vibrant RGB illumination and crystals. Unfortunately, the AIO liquid cooler doesn’t seem to have an official name yet, but one of his cooling fans has a sticker with the name “G.Skill Royal Wind”. So it’s unclear if that’s the name of his AIO or just the cooling fan. The AIO liquid cooler will be available in the third quarter in white and black flavors.
Perhaps one of the most interesting products we saw at the G.Skill booth was the WigiDash, a 7-inch touch display that connects to your system via a USB-C port. The display allows you to monitor system criticality. WigiDash definitely has an Android feel to it. G.Skill has developed various widgets that support a comprehensive list of applications such as HWiNFO, AIDA64, Spotify and Twitch.
