Recently, I needed to record video from a 4K USB video capture device. The video source was the latest LattePanda Sigma SBC. Test your review using Steam. Here’s how I did it.
To crop the source
Not all images are necessary to tell a story. Even some of them can be useful. Save valuable time in your editing suite by trimming unwanted parts during the recording process. Sure, you could duplicate the effect in an editor like DaVinci Resolve, but this simple OBS hack will save you time and make it available during your livestream.
1. Open OBS and select the scene you want to edit.
2. Select the source you want to use.
3. Right-click the source and select Copy.
Four. Right-click within the source and select Paste Reference. This will duplicate the sources in the list.
Five. Right-click the cloned source and select Transform >> Edit Transform.
6. Tweak crop settings to zoom in on shots or target areas to crop from shots. Click “Close” to set. Here we’re cropping 200 pixels from the right and 80 pixels from the bottom from a 1080p video source. The source can be repositioned and moved in this dialog, or captured directly in the preview window. This simplifies scene layout.
Change source zoom
Sometimes the sauce is a little too big, and sometimes too small. OBS has an easy way to change the zoom of any video source. After changing the source, you can also move the source around the screen to create the layout of your choice.
1. Open OBS and select the scene you want to edit.
2. Select the source you want to use.
3. Click on the material in the preview window and use the red frame to move the material to shrink/enlarge. Holding down the SHIFT key will scale the source down/enlarge it, preserving the aspect ratio.
Four. To reset the size and position, right click on the source and select one of the 5 options to fit/stretch/center the screen.
