Mac Pro with Apple Silicon Finally Here to Complete Transition Away From Intel

Apple is finally ending its departure from Intel with the new Mac Pro with the M2 Ultra. Available with up to 192GB of memory, prices start at $6,299 and will be available next week.

All Mac Pros use the M2 Ultra with 24 CPU cores and a GPU with up to 76 cores. The chassis shares a physical design with the last Intel Xeon Mac Pro, with vertical and rackmount options available.

Rather than using AfterBurner for ProRes video as an optional card, Apple says the new PC is capable of seven AfterBurner cards. 22 camera feeds can be ingested directly into Pro Res.

It has eight Thunderbolt ports and dual Gigabit Ethernet. A PCIe Gen 4 expansion card is now an option, adding his 5 slots for video, networking, audio and video IO cards. However, third-party graphics have not yet been announced.
