Raspberry Pi Pico W Gives Your Plant Emotions with Face Animations
Just because you don’t have a green thumb doesn’t mean you can’t build one. Keeping plants happy can be difficult, especially when they each have different requirements.this raspberry pi A project created on Medium by the maker known as Penguin Pranav created a system called Penguin Pranav. emo pot It not only monitors plants, but also gives them personality by animating their faces using the Raspberry Pi Pico W.
EmoPot can display up to 8 unique faces depending on environmental factors such as temperature and humidity levels. Since it’s a Pico W, it has wireless support and can act as an IoT device. In this case, we integrate with Blynk to determine the state of the plant, so we know exactly which side to use.
There are happy faces and sad faces in good times and bad. Blank faces can be used for neutral data. Too hot and you’d expect to see a sweaty and tense face, while too cold and your teeth showing to produce a cold look. If you need to add water, stick your tongue out with a thirsty face. A vampire face is also added for fun. Pranav also includes a special rain cloud animation that can be displayed over any face.
This unit is fully powered by the Raspberry Pi Pico W. The face is output to the TFT LCD display module. I’m not sure how humidity, temperature levels, etc. are monitored, but it wouldn’t be hard to integrate something like a humidity sensor to get the data you need. You will need a separate module for each plant you want to monitor.
Pranav uses a display library called ILI9341 to generate surfaces. He designed a variety of expressions because graphics can be created from basic shapes. Blynk will be used for his IoT capabilities. This is his IoT platform that can monitor temperature, humidity, soil moisture levels, sunlight, health status, and more. For more information on the project, please visit: Github.
