Sam Bankman-Fried will be extradited to the U.S. Wednesday night

The Bahamas government has announced that former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried will travel to the United States tonight, December 21st.

This week, Bankman-Fried and his team of lawyers reversed their positions on whether to oppose extradition to the United States.

Bankman-Fried and his legal team dropped their fight against extradition on Monday, Dec. 19. The former CEO signed the handover papers yesterday, December 20, and was granted immediate handover today. He attempts to secure his bail in the United States. If that fails, he will likely be detained at New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn.

Bankman-Fried was first arrested on December 12 following the collapse and bankruptcy of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange.
