Sub-$700 Prime Day Gaming Laptops: Plenty of Play for Minimal Pay

If you just want a little immersion in PC gaming and can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars, Prime Day’s gaming laptop deals are here to save you some cash. Specifically, we picked two laptops under $700. These aren’t the most powerful, so you may need to upgrade your RAM and storage in the future, but they’re a good entry-level starting point.

At Amazon Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 for just $599 Equipped with AMD Ryzen 5 6600H, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. 1080p displays run at 120 Hz, giving esports a bit of a bang. When I reviewed this version of the laptop, I liked the look and features, but felt strongly that some parts, such as the single-channel RAM and small SSD, would eventually need an upgrade.

The MSI Cyborg 15 at Best Buy features a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of wider storage for $699. Also the latest is his Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050. The storage here is twice as much as the one that comes with Lenovo and should last longer.

Neither of these can play the most intense games on the highest settings, but they can play most games, especially esports. If I got one of these, I would immediately buy the 8GB RAM upgrade and upgrade to a 16GB and 1TB SSD, as both should be upgradable. Combined, the cost is less than $75.
