TSMC’s Latest Factory Plagued by Fire During Construction

A fire broke out at TSMC’s new manufacturing facility on Tuesday night. report The fire was discovered at 7:30 pm local time and firefighters said they had successfully extinguished it by 9:10 pm. Nobody was injured. The impact on TSMC’s manufacturing and production plans, and which customers may be affected by this unfortunate event, is not clear at the time of writing.

The facility was still under construction. The source of the fire is being investigated by the county fire department and a safety investigation is ongoing. His TSMC, located in Zhunan, part of the sprawling Hsinchu Science Park, began construction last year. So far, TSMC has completed the construction of the main building and the installation of some major factory infrastructures.

According to reports, TSMC was in the process of building a clean room facility and plumbing system on site. The chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) piping system was damaged in the course of the fire, which covered 300 square meters (3,230 square feet), along with some already installed machinery.

The Miaoli Fire Department, which successfully extinguished the fire and shared the image above, is investigating the cause of the blaze. TSMC is also working with contractors to investigate what happened Wednesday night so they can avoid mistakes that may have caused this fire.
