Unique Raspberry Pi Gaming Rig Uses Complex Shapes and Circular LCD Screens
The Raspberry pie There is no shortage of retro game buildsHowever, one of the most fun aspects is to put the build in the right case. Created by maker and woodworker Mw33212, the Pi is housed in a beautiful handmade wooden casing. Two round LCD panels For display.
Mw33212 describes the project as being built with 10mm thick walnuts, maple, and Indian rosewood. This shape is known as J83, one of the “Johnson solids”, which is essentially a series of convex polyhedra, and is called a three-sided pedestal defect. Whatever the shape, the gorgeous case design fits everything you need for your gaming rig neatly.
This project is one of many projects created by Mw33212, most of which also feature custom wooden cases. Some of our favorites include this portable Pi-powered Wooden projector Project and this raspberry pie base Atari-themed arcade system.
In this case, the Mw33212 is using the Raspberry Pi 4 to run a retro gaming platform that seems to be able to emulate the Nintendo 64. You can easily replace Pi4 with 3B + or zero. Handheld or preferred. In addition to the Pi, it features four speakers for audio output, multiple monitor driver boards, two fans for cooling, and two 3.4-inch circular LCD panels, especially with a resolution of 800x800px.
Retro game emulation can be handled by RetroPie or Lakka. The Mw33212 continues to verify the efficiency of the round LCD panel, which is not very effective in many games. In most cases, it can be used for games where attention is focused on the center of the screen, but those that rely on the icons in the corners are rarely playable.
