What is Face Off?
As the name suggests, Face-Off pits two things against each other to decide which one is better. In this case, we’re voting to decide which games in 2023 we’re most excited about. With the ability to watch specific games multiple times, you can continue to vote for your favorites to ensure they rank higher than others. We have pre-selected 45 games for you to choose from. These are randomly paired and tracked each time you pick a winner.
How will the winner be determined?
When voting closes on December 19th, the total number of “wins” and “losses” for each game will be tallied to create a ranked list based on the choices that will be revealed on December 20th. A “winner” is determined, and if there is a tie for “winners”, the game with the fewest “losers” wins the top spot. Keep voting for your favorite games and you’ll have a better chance of ranking higher on our list. You can vote as many times as you like until the faceoff ends.
How can I be sure I clicked all?
It’s hard to know when we’ve seen all the 2023 games included. Because they are randomly matched and there are so many opponents. Playing until you’ve voted for all your favorites or keeping certain games out of the winner’s circle are the various options available in the showdown. Determining the winner in all of these matchups ensures that 2023’s most anticipated video game picks have a fighting chance to reach the top of the list.
Which 2023 video games are included?
The list of the biggest video games of 2023 included in this showdown was determined by IGN staff to try to include the most popular games and the games viewers are most excited about. If so, here’s a breakdown of all these 2023 games.
Please note that only games with an officially announced 2023 release date/window are included. That means games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (2023-2024) and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (coming “next winter”). For example, they are not included because they could fall under his 2024. We also chose to exclude games that have already released in Early Access and are scheduled for a full release in 2023, such as Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disney Dreamlight Valley.
