Apex Legends Season 14 “Hunted” Full Details on Vantage, Kings Canyon, and Weapon Changes

Apex Legends Season 14, Hunted, brings the old and the new. Due to be released next week on August 9th, there is a lot to look forward to with the new content. Our newest Legend, Vantage, is a sniper-focused character who joins the game on the newly reworked Kings Canyon map. With lots of new changes to leveling, weapons, legends, and more, here’s everything you need to know about Apex Season 14.

New Legend – Vantage

Season 14 will feature the youngest Legendary Vantage to enter an Apex Game at age 18. She’s Cuban-American and a sniper-based legend that makes all snipers very happy.

  • Passive: Spotter Lens
    • Vantage can self-identify targets on the ground and zoom in unarmed and unscoped
  • Tactics: Echo Transfer
    • The Vantage can toss your Bat-Friend in any direction, launch it at an Echo, and double-jump when it reaches an Echo.
    • Her tactical cooldown is the actual jump itself. Echo can be thrown in any direction at any time, but Vantage cannot jump until its cooldown resets.
    • Echoes can be canceled or recalled at any time.
  • Ultimate: Sniper’s Mark
    • The Vantage has his own sniper rifle (like Rampart’s LMG Sheila) that marks targets it hits.
    • Her sniper rifle deals 50 damage, but marked targets take 100 damage from her rifle, and Vantage’s teammates can deal extra damage if the target is marked.
    • The target’s mark only lasts for 10 seconds, No It’s strictly a line of sight mark through a wall or cover.
    • Unlike Rampart’s Sheila, Vantage’s ultimate doesn’t need to be fully charged. Vantage’s Sniper Rifle is always ready to use as long as it has enough bullets for its Ultimate Charge. A fully loaded sniper rifle has a total of 5 bullets.
    • Ultimate Accelerant charges 35% of her ultimate (about 2 bullets).

The Vantage’s mobility and long-range sniping capabilities make it a deadly threat for sniper-focused players. She can do a fair amount of damage while keeping her distance and providing scouting support for her team, but she can also use Echo to get out of difficult situations or use her movement ability to push with her team. It will be interesting to see how Vantage plays out in Ranked and Competitive.

Apex Legends Season 14 Map Changes

Kings Canyon is undergoing major renovations in its southwest corner, where the infamous Skull Town once stood. Between Salvage and Octane’s gauntlet exists a new Skull Town replacement called Relic. Mass is added where the map was just a huge gap between his two POIs, more loot and rotation. The POI cages have been reworked to have fewer high points for teams to bunker as the floor has been lowered and the outer cage removed.

The Broken Relay added more buildings to its location, renamed it the Basin, and also opened an unnamed landmark between Containments leading to the Capacitor. Kings Canyon also implemented a new skybox to add liveliness and clarity to the entire map. Some changes have also been made to the map to increase the flow of central rotation points. Kings Canyon loot pools have been adjusted to improve loot discovery across the map.

Season 14 will feature a map rotation of Kings Canyon, World’s Edge, and Stormpoint, with the first split focused on Kings Canyon and the second split focused on Stormpoint.

Speaking of loot, here are the major gear changes for Season 14.

  • The Gold Backpack holds 6 more items and features a deep pocket bonus that allows you to carry 3 Shield Batteries instead of 2 and stacks of Med Kits. Gold backpacks no longer revive teammates with extra health or shields.
  • The Gold Knockdown Shield no longer includes self-revive, but instead replaces the previous Gold Backpack Guardian Angel bonus, which allows you to revive squadmates with bonus shields and health.

Here are the biggest weapon changes for Season 14:

  • SMGS and pistols use a new laser sight barrel attachment that reduces hipfire spread. (In addition, Assault Rifles have slightly increased hipfire spread)
  • Double tap hop-up is back and available for EVA-8 and G7 Scout
  • Skullpiercer is back in rotation and is now available at 30-30 repeaters along with Wingman and Longbow.
  • Wingmen take sniper ammo and use the sniper attachment. He only stacks up to 20 ammo, even with gold magazines.
  • Spitfire can now use Light Ammo and Light Attachments, and Gold mag can only hold 60 stacks.
  • The Eva-8 has a slightly increased rate of fire and a stock addition to the attachment list.
  • The 30-30 repeater automatically comes with a dual loader to reload two shots at a time.

In addition to these weapon changes, the Volt SMG and G7 Scout have returned to ground loot, and the Bow and Rampage have been added to the Care Package’s weapon rotation.

new level cap

After years of capping players at level 500, there is a new leveling system that allows players to level up to 2,000 times in Season 14. Think of this new system as a prestige system. Once you reach level 500, your level badge will change to a gold lining, indicating that you’ve rolled back to level 1 and gained 1 round of fame. You can do this up to 4 times and level up to earn free loot boxes.
