Battlefield 2042 Season 4 Brings New Specialist, Map, and More This Month
The fourth season of Battlefield 2042. Called the Eleventh Hour, it launches on February 28 and brings a wave of new content to the shooter, including new maps, hardware, and a recon specialist.
The new map, Flashpoint, is set in South Africa and features various interior spaces that encourage frenzied melee combat, but the surrounding rocky terrain could be better suited for sniper and tank-based warfare. There is also a sprawling abandoned map set in an abandoned Indian shipyard that will be remade.
Season 4 adds a new Recon Specialist to the 2042 roster. “Ambush Expert” Camilla Brasco prevents enemies from locking onto nearby allies while her deployable X6 infiltration device highlights enemy technology.
Blasco’s training renders her movements invisible to motion sensors. This is a perk that complements the Injection Beacon and Constant Steady Sniper Scope that come standard with all Recon Specialists.
Next Season will also add the out-of-stock Super 500 Shotgun Sidearm and the fast-firing AC9 SMG. This could be useful in narrow internal sections of the new map. Meanwhile, the hard-hitting RM68 assault rifle and RPT-31 LMG are aided by the sticky SPH explosive launcher gadget for aggressive negotiations with enemies at medium range.
Season 4 also introduces the CAV-Brawler, designed to act as a light armored personnel carrier and mobile spawn point, even when the crew is full. A new Battle Pass will also drop him on February 28th, offering 100 tiers of content as usual. Many of the tier rewards are available to everyone, but some cosmetics are restricted behind a Premium Battle Pass subscription.
DICE recently replaced Battlefield 2042’s unpopular Specialist build with the franchise’s classic class-based system. This move put all existing characters into one of four classes: Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon. Check out IGN’s instructional video.
