Battlefield 2042’s New Map Has a Mirror’s Edge Easter Egg

Battlefield 2042 players have discovered EA’s Mirror’s Edge Easter egg hidden in the game’s new map.

As reported by euro gamer, Battlefield 2042’s Season 4 update added the Flashpoint map, a throwback to one of developer DICE’s previous projects. Best known for its fast-paced parkour around vertigo-inducing environments, Mirror’s Edge references are naturally found on top of very tall objects.

Players can fly to the top of the crane to find the sneakers worn by the main character, Faith, in the Mirror’s Edge game. However, as mentioned, this doesn’t indicate more Mirror’s Edge content to come, and may just be a fun reference to DICE’s older games.

An attempt to revive the series was made in 2016 with Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, but it didn’t gain much traction.IGN said the original 2008 title was “a solid first attempt at a new type of game.” But for Catalyst, “Mirror’s Edge’s return shines in some ways, but ultimately disappoints.”

In addition to Easter eggs and new maps, Season 4 of Battlefield 2042 added new hardware and a Recon Specialist when it launched on February 28th.
