Blasphemous 2 Gets New Trailer and Release Date

We already knew Blasphemous 2 was coming out this year. And today, the official release date for the game, scheduled for this summer, has been set.

As part of IGN’s Summer of Gaming announcement, we’ve learned that the 2D side-scrolling Metroidvania game is coming to PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S on August 24th. Set after the events of the DLC Wounds of Evenide. Blasphemous 2 includes trademark pixel-based art and the return of The Penitent One.

Released in 2020, Blasphemous is a Metroidvania action-adventure with a distinctive art style and challenging combat. That sequel was originally announced at Gamescom 2021 about two years ago.

As expected in the sequel, Blasphemous 2 introduces new weapons that offer new moves. And even more interestingly, the sequel will focus heavily on customization, allowing players to customize their skill set and respond according to their preferred playstyle.

A review of the original Blasphemous, giving it a 7, said, “Blasphemous is a spooky Metroidvania with gorgeous animations and combat, but a little too one-dimensional.”
