Bravely Default 3DS Games Shutting Down Online Features Soon

Square Enix is announced Online servers for the Nintendo 3DS Bravely Default game will be shut down on June 30th.

Producer Tomoya Asano said there will be a second announcement later this month on how the shutdown will affect Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer. He explained that the team expects net friend invites and sending Nemeses no longer works. However, players can still enjoy the game offline and watch the story through to the end even after shutting down. Additionally, StreetPass communication between 3DS players will continue to be available.

The 3DS and Wii U eShop storefronts closed in March, along with the ability to purchase SP drink items for use in the Bravely Default 3DS game. These aren’t the only game servers shut down this year.server of Team Fortress 2 for PlayStation 3 shut down abruptly last month after 15 years, and Knockout City’s servers will shut down on June 6th.

The latest mainline entry in the series is Bravely Default 2 for Nintendo Switch and PC. IGN’s review of Bravely Default 2 stated, “Bravely Default 2 is a long and familiar game with a great customizable combat and job system that allows you to truly personalize your party and playthrough. It’s a journey,” he said.
