Bungie Acknowledges Destiny 2 Can Be ‘Too Predictable,’ Reveals Goals Post-Lightfall

We’re two weeks away from Destiny 2: Lightfall, the next major expansion for Bungie’s ongoing first-person shooter. Heading into release, the developers have shared some goals for Destiny’s future.

upon Bungie.netthe studio acknowledged that the constant stream of content updates makes the game feel like a known quantity to its dedicated player base.

“But with all this quality and consistency, Destiny 2 sometimes feels too predictable,” wrote Destiny 2’s Joe Blackburn. “It takes a certain amount of consistency to update the game regularly so players don’t have to relearn Destiny every three months, and to keep the team healthy and sustainable. It’s clear that too much predictability creates a shortage, and there will be surprises and delights by the time some of our major game updates reach your hands.”

The team also addressed complaints about “not enough things to do” in Destiny 2, stating that they recognize that the most hardcore players often lack content to dig into at the end of each season. rice field.

With these issues sorted out, the team identified four major goals for Destiny 2 moving forward. It’s about expanding players’ imaginations, re-challenging Destiny, enriching content, and connecting Guardians.

Lightfall will launch with Seasons of Defiance, which will reduce the complexity of Destiny’s progression system. This includes fewer competing currencies, easier resource management, and more. Destiny also kicks off an exploration of broader themes and fantasy, citing last year’s Reapers, Pirates and Cowboys as examples of how Destiny’s setting can push existing boundaries.

Bungie also plans to adjust the balance between players and enemies to bring more of a challenge to Destiny 2 without making enemies feel like bullet sponges. The developers also want to enhance existing PvP and PvE content so that players always feel like there is something to do, even after completing the majority of new content in each season and expansion. Finally, the developers are adding new matchmaking tools to help players find fireteams faster.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is coming February 28th. The expansion is set to mark the “beginning of the end” for Destiny 2, introducing a new map on Neptune called Neo Luna. Bungie has also confirmed that it will not remove past expansions of the Light and Darkness Saga to allow new players to experience the full story.
