Call of Duty 2023 Will Continue Modern Warfare 2 Story, Will be Led by Sledgehammer Games

Changes have been made to the Call of Duty franchise’s slated release in 2023 to keep players grounded in the modern era.

in a new report from bloomberg, Activision changed its plan for the annual Call of Duty release schedule. It is reported to move away from the planned expansion of Modern Warfare to another full-fledged game set in the Modern Era, developed by Sledgehammer Games. An earlier report last year said Call of Duty’s plans for 2023 were in the experimental phase of the franchise, focused on a high-end expansion to last year’s Modern Warfare 2, and apparently scaled up for a full release. ing.

No official details have been released at this time, but Bloomberg reports that the game will focus on the continuation of Modern Warfare 2 and its systems, but not Modern Warfare 3. Vanguard will direct development of the game, with support from his other Activision studios, including Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Bloomberg reports that the change has caused concern among the development team at Sledgehammer Games. However, an anonymous staff member said Activision is devoting significant resources to the new game to ensure his 2023 release.

In recent years, however, the franchise has experienced some growing pains, with some developers having to ship games sooner than expected or spend more time on them than expected.

With more reports of COD 2023 developments and the looming Activision/Microsoft merger still in litigation, the franchise may be in the most unusual place this year. .
