Call of Duty Is Getting a Board Game Adaptation Next Year

Call of Duty: The Board Game, the tabletop version of Activision’s seminal shooter series, has been announced for a 2024 release window. His Kickstarter campaign for the strategy game will launch this fall.

As reported by variety, The Call of Duty tabletop game is brought to you by Arcane Wonders, the company behind the Sheriff of Nottingham and Onitama. It is set within the rebooted Modern Warfare timeline and features the game’s maps and weapons.

Designer Brian Pope also said polygon: “[Players] plan at the same time [their] Move stealthily and solve them on the map at the same time. Line of sight is easily determined by colored lines on the map, and combat occurs when you turn your eyes on an enemy. It’s all about betraying and defeating your opponent in order to be in the best possible position to win the battle. ”

However, Arcane’s ambitions for Call of Duty: The Board Game go well beyond the $50 US base game for two players. It will be treated like a live service video game with additional content such as operators/miniatures, weapons, maps, modes (including zombies and co-op campaigns) and will be added over time. Pope described it as “a series of products within the same game system”.

Arcane president Robert Geistlinger also explained the decision to fund the project through crowdfunding despite the backing of multi-billion dollar companies. Activision provided the license for Call of Duty. Our version of the game for their fans. ”

For example, creative director Walter Barber says crowdfunding is the only way to include pre-painted miniatures in the core game.

As for the video game series, Call of Duty 2023 is reportedly led by Sledgehammer Games (the developer of Call of Duty: Vanguard) and will continue the storyline of last year’s Modern Warfare 2.
