Daedalic Entertainment Ending Internal Development, Work on New Lord of the Rings Game Halted

Daedalic Entertainment, the studio behind the long-delayed and under-appreciated Lord of the Rings: Gollum, has closed its internal development department.

Additionally, the Germany-based game studio announced that it had stopped developing another Lord of the Rings game it had been working on in-house. The game has been in development since 2022, code-named “It’s Magic” and will probably come out next year.

According to Games Wirtschaft, the studio is still working on improving Lord of the Rings: Gollum and is currently working on another patch, even though it’s not working on new games in-house. . A Nintendo Switch version is also in development, aiming for release later this year.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released last month and came under fire for performance issues, graphics and gameplay. Shortly after launch, the developer apologized and promised to improve the quality of the game.
