EA to Stop Selling Physical Games Entirely In Some Parts of Europe

EA games, including FIFA, Battlefield and more, will no longer be physically sold in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia.

Industry analyst MauroNL shared the following report: game company Germany-based Electronic Arts GmbH says it will no longer sell physical copies of its games in these countries, leaving digital downloads as the only option.

According to EA Germany’s latest annual report, “The ongoing shift from physical merchandise to digital downloads continues to negatively impact sales growth.” It will be processed through our affiliates.”

As a result, EA “could no longer generate sales from packaged goods,” and the publisher restructured its operations in Germany, scrapping local contracts in line with its new business plan.
