All of these cards will be featured in the upcoming set of Flesh and Blood (FAB), a fantasy-themed hero-on-hero fighting game designed to be played in person.

Dusk Till Dawn is the tenth set release, meaning Flesh and Blood has reached a milestone few card games can achieve. “Dusk Till Dawn being our 10th FAB set and our rapidly growing player base expressing a strong belief that the game is getting better over time is our long-term goal. It’s a strong indication that FAB’s vision is set to stand the test of time,” said James White, CEO and founder of developer Legend Story Studios (LSS).

“The reality of the TCG industry is that the failure rate is 98%. Many games that were initially full of potential and hype stop working and are on the brink of death by the fourth or fifth set. either on the verge of failure or showing signs of catastrophic game system failure.”

Dusk Till Dawn also tells a particularly important part of the overall Flesh and Blood story, woven throughout the cards and stories published online. “[This set] This work is special in that it brings fans back to the heart of the main storyline that runs through the world of Raathe,” White said. [a previous set called] Monarch takes a break and ties in some of the subplot clues that have followed since, including joining the heroes of Arya in battle.

“I think we’ve done a great job integrating lore and character development with card design and game mechanics,” he added. “This creates a very immersive experience when playing the game. You feel like you’re playing as a hero.”

“United We Stand tells stories through the best card designs,” White added. “A new unity that spans multiple cards in the set. His mechanic expresses the concept of heroes defending together, United. We are showcasing all the iconic heroes who came together for.”

What United We Stand is doing with the term “Party” is a glimpse into Flesh and Blood’s upcoming PvE mode, which will evolve the game beyond its current PvP-only format.

“United We Stand is a sneak peek at PvE, Flesh and Blood’s long-awaited social play format,” White said. “TCGs are usually premised on confrontation, including multiplayer formats, and the ultimate goal of the game is to kill other players.

“Inevitably one wins and everyone else loses. PvE completely changes this dynamic, with players working together to achieve a common goal. Social dynamics move from conflict to cooperation. and change.

“Players are incentivized to keep their fellow players alive and involved in the campaign rather than killing them out of the game. This is a great complement to the overall Flesh and Blood design. It’s much more like an RPG experience that you can play.”

“United We Stand is a preview of PvE, the long-awaited form of social play in Flesh and Blood.”

So it builds on the RPG mechanics already built into the game. “One of the most fun and unique things about FAB is that he can equip heroes with all sorts of different weapons and armor, depending on which hero they’re fighting,” White said. “It’s very RPG-like in this regard, and adds a lot of customizability to how you set up your heroes to fight.”

Matching these basic rules and mechanics is another key to the game’s success, White said, because the heroes created in the first set were designed to fight on par with the heroes in the latest set. said to be an important aspect.

“Our design philosophy is to keep the game mechanics as simple as possible,” he explained. “Additionally, we intentionally create sets from time to time that act as excellent introductory ramps for new players. [the most recent release] The Outsider is a mechanically very simple set based on simple melee damage interactions. “

In this regard, Mr. White also mentioned the future development of “Fresh and Blood”. “As we move forward, we’re going to see card and product design changes that really support accessibility to make it easier for new players to pick up and play FAB. will,” he said. The next release of Dusk until Dawn, like many of his FAB sets before it, will be crafted with limited play in mind. That means it’s fully draftable and ready for sealed play.

Regarding the game’s story, White revealed that “Dusk until Dawn” is only the second part of the Monarch trilogy, slated to reach its climax in early 2025. And alongside his more dedicated PvE mode, LSS is reportedly looking to grow the game’s narrative in other ways. that too.

“We always thought of FAB as developing IP, not just games,” says White. “This includes world building, character development, and storytelling. So far, the IP has been applied to trading card games, but over time there will be plenty of storytelling opportunities in other mediums. I think.”

While Dusk Till Dawn launches on July 14, 2023, a special War of the Monarchs pre-release event will be taking place July 7-9 at local game stores around the world. Participating players can experience the first part of the trilogy by playing the Monarch Draft and earn special perks. Participating will award a promo card, and the winner will take home his Dusk until Dawn pack and another special promotion. Spoiler season for Dusk tul Dawn, the period during which the rest of the cards are revealed, begins on June 30.
