Final Fantasy 16: Everything We Learned In IGN’s Naoki Yoshida Interview

After a long period of relatively silence, Square Enix recently unveiled a brand new FINAL FANTASY 16 trailer with a release window. As a follow-up to the trailer, IGN had the opportunity to talk with Naoki Yoshida, the producer who is currently leading the project, and an all-star developer team.

In a conversation with Mr. Yoshida, I learned a lot about the Final Fantasy project, which is the future main line of Square Enix, such as confirming that it is not an open world RPG after all. The main highlights are:

Naoki Yoshida confirmed that FINAL FANTASY 16 will take the form of party-based combat with AI characters, and also discussed how Aicons (a summoned version of FINAL FANTASY 16) will be incorporated into gameplay. ..

“I didn’t want to overwhelm the user with the latest trailer, so I focused only on the fight of Clive. Still, most of Clive’s journey is accompanied by one or more companions,” says Yoshida. .. “These companions will participate in combat and also trade bunter with Clive, but the party members will be AI-led, allowing players to focus on controlling Clive.”

FINAL FANTASY XVI does not follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, nor does it offer a true open world. Instead, he said, taking inspiration from other Triple A games, he would divide the area into more confined areas.

“In order to bring a story that spans the entire globe, we have avoided open world designs that are limited to a single open world space, and instead have a better feel for players on a truly” global “scale. “He explains.

Remember the first trailer puppy in FINAL FANTASY XVI? Naoki Yoshida revealed his name, teasing that it might play a bigger role in gameplay.

“Well, let’s just say he’s a wolf rather than a dog. His name is’Torgal’,” Yoshida told IGN. “As for him being a party member, you just have to wait and see. More information about the party is coming soon.”

In addition to the new trailer, Square Enix has also unveiled a new character, giving a more detailed explanation of the background of the world. FINAL FANTASY 16 was previously revealed to be exclusive to the PS5 in a medieval European setting.

FINAL FANTASY 16 is currently scheduled for release in the summer of 2023. The PC version may continue, but remains unconfirmed. While you’re waiting, check out the rest of the game’s summer coverage, including a brand new release for the resurrection of FINAL FANTASY 7.
