Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Will Feature a World With a ‘High Degree of Freedom’

It’s not yet clear what kind of work Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will be, but director Naoki Hamaguchi has made it clear that the work will feature “a multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom.” I’m here.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project, and begins after the first game’s ending in which the heroes leave the walls of Midgar. In the original game, this is when the world opens up and the more restrained hours of operation become more grand.

Hamaguchi’s comment It’s not yet confirmed if Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth will be fully open-world, but comments about the “high degree of freedom” should appeal to fans, as they explore the wider world. We hope that means you have the opportunity to have that surprise and choose how you play. We will work on some of that mission and side content.

“Players will be able to travel through a wide and multifaceted world with a high degree of freedom and experience various stories,” says Hamaguchi.

IGN interviewed Hamaguchi about the second Final Fantasy Remake in 2021, and said the team is grappling with how players will experience this next adventure.

“In the next game, Cloud and the others will leave Midgar and explore the world map, so the next challenge is to create a gameplay that takes advantage of the vast world. It’s different from what we’ve done with this current title.”

Final Fantasy 7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura echoed, saying that Cloud will “run around in a lot of nature.” All signs seem to point to a more open Chapter 2, and hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to learn more.

Hamaguchi’s Twitter response comes just a day after the first “developer comment” from the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth team confirming that the game’s development is “going smoothly and according to plan.” If this is true, fans should get the chance to dive back into the world of Final Fantasy VII this winter.

For more details, see the news that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be the second part of the trilogy and that work on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has already begun.
