Halo: The Master Chief Collection has the potential to acquire microtransactions eight years after its launch.
343 Industries has revealed that it is currently considering adding microtransactions to the game. This allows players to purchase “Spartan Points” (now called “Season Points”) to unlock gear and customizations that they may have missed.
“For players who are new to MCC, who haven’t spent much time unlocking items during seasonal updates, or who are simply trying to catch the last great item they need. The item is now unlocked at season points, and 343 states that he continues to be pleased that players can unlock the item through play in the same way.
“We are happy with the current system where players earn Spartan points by completing challenges and leveling up through play,” they added. “This feels like a terrifying amount of playtime over a vast range of content and wants to move forward (or skip) the grind, or get the specific item you need (all of us are our favorites). In that case, the option to buy Spartan points will be added-you will not Have To do that. However, we believe that new players will be able to catch up and older players will be able to grab the specific item they want without having to grind it.

It is currently unclear if / when these new Spartan points will be available, but the HaloMCC community is already worried about the idea of microtransactions entering the game.
Do not put MTX in MCC.If you’re worried that the amount of content is “too much” for new players, give them more points about challenges / progressions or allow them to unlock season levels completely non-linearly.

It’s still unclear if 343 Industries will find a good midpoint, but selling the new Spartan Points as an “additional” way to win your favorite items is certainly the beginning.
