Hefty PS5 Firmware 7.0 Update Adds a Host of Quality-of-Life Improvements

Today, Sony released version 7 of its PS5 software. This includes support for his VRR at 1440p resolution and his Discord integration for PS5. But his latest PS5 firmware update also introduced some features that will improve the quality of life for PS5 owners.

Thanks to the latest firmware update, the US and UK can now capture gameplay using voice commands. These users can issue actions such as “Hey PlayStation, start recording” to start capturing gameplay footage. This feature is useful if you want to capture gameplay footage without having to use a button prompt to start recording.

Sony has also made it easier for PS5 owners to find their VR games. A new filter in the game library lets you quickly find all the PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2 games you currently own by filtering them out.

One final notable feature introduced in the new PS5 firmware update is the ability for PS5 owners who own a physical disc of the game to play the digital copy using the same disc installation without having to insert the disc into the console. It’s been a long time.

The update follows the recently released PlayStation VR2, and reviews have called it a “leap forward” over the original device. His next major PS5 game is Resident Evil 4 Remake, pushing the platform harder than most games to date. It’s also been released on PS4, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
