Intellivision Amico Console Still in Development, CEO Says

Yesterday, it was reported that the Intellivision Amico trademark had been abandoned, and speculation circulated that console development had ceased. Currently, the company’s CEO states that work on the system is underway and the trademark is very valid.

In an email sent to IGN by Intellivision CEO Phil Adam, the company is “still working on the console,” and the US Patent and Trademark Office “usually is fairly slow to update.”

Intellivision Amico is the successor to the Intellivision home console from the 1980s. The new system utilizes a remote control style interface with a touch screen and charging dock. The plan is to equip the system with a new library of family games. Some of them have been developed by the team that created the original intellivision game.

However, the console has faced many delays since it was announced in 2018, with former CEO Tommy Tallarico resigning earlier this year and former Chief Revenue Officer Phil Adam taking over.

But for now, at least according to the company, Intellivision Amico is still in the works.
