A dark, soulful twist on Pinocchio’s tale, Lies of P, has resurfaced. This time it’s a new trailer at this week’s IGN Fanfest, which you can see above, and at the end of the trailer, the release has finally narrowed his window. It will be published in his August of this year.
Most of this trailer focused on Lies of P’s disturbing monsters. The trailer features a strange mix of mechanized puppet creatures and weird, slimy-looking Lovecraftian horrors. There’s also plenty of footage of what appears to be the Blue Fairy, a creature that serves as a guide to Pinocchio in the original story, but given Lies of P’s sinister plot, it may not be entirely reliable this time around.
With this, we’ve seen most of the main cast members people associate with the traditional (or Disney) tale of Pinocchio, including Geppetto and fellows who might give a nod to Jiminy Cricket. How far it deviates from what we know about the little wooden boy who barely had to fight Lovecraftian horrors in the story remains a mystery.
