Mario Kart 8 Deluxe May Be Getting Five More Characters in Future DLC Waves
The latest update to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has arrived, and it looks like the upcoming DLC wave will add five more characters to the racer’s roster.
Wave 4 of the Booster Course Path added 8 new tracks to the game along with Birdo as a playable racer. However, several of his Twitter users are pointing out that there are currently five empty slots for him on the character select screen, indicating that more drivers will be coming in his future DLC drops. Birdo is back in all its bright colors, but don’t be distracted by the question mark displayed underneath it on the character selection tile. seems to confirm that new characters will be added.
In addition to Birdo and these mysterious characters, Wave 4 includes Singapore Speedway, Bangkok Rush, Amsterdam Drift, Donkey Kong Summit, Riverside Park, Mario Circuit, Waluigi Stadium, and one new course (Yoshi’s Island). 8 new tracks have been introduced.
The Booster Course DLC will launch in March 2022 and Wave 1 will bring Paris Promenade, Toad Circuit, Choco Mountain, Coconut Mall, Tokyo Blur, Shroom Ridge, Sky Garden and Ninja Hideaway to the game.
With Wave 2 released in August, Sky-High Sundae, Kalimari Desert, Mario Circuit 3, Mushroom Gorge, Sydney Sprint, Waluigi Pinball, Snow Land, and New York Minute expanded their course pools.
Wave 3 arrived in December and added Maple Treeway, another Rainbow Road, Rock Rock Mountain, Boo Lake, Berlin Byways, London Loop, Merry Mountain and Peach Gardens for players to race on. .
There will be two additional waves of DLC in 2023, each bringing eight new courses and potentially even more characters from across the Mario Kart series. When all six waves are released, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will include more than half of all Mario Kart tracks released to date.
