Mario Kart: Home Circuit Developers Are Now Making a Hot Wheels Version
If you liked the idea of the mixed reality kart game Mario Kart Home Circuit, but felt you could cut down on the number of red-clad plumbers, the same developer is about to release a very similar game. But I use Hot Wheels. It’s called Hot Wheels: Rift Rally, and he’s coming to iOS, PS4, and PS5 on March 14, 2023.
Hot Wheels: Rift Rally is similarly a mixed reality game that includes a chameleon RC car and a track that players can set around their home using a “lift gate”. Players then drive the track they set using the in-game screen. The RC car digitally transforms into his one of over 140 Hot Wheels car variations on screen.
Rift Rally has both a campaign mode where players use gates to build tracks and explore different maps, and a stunt mode where players avoid gates and perform drifts, wheelies and burnouts to achieve high scores contained.
Like Home Circuit, Rift Rally is a bit more expensive due to the inclusion of RC cars. The Standard Edition is $129.99 and the Collector’s Edition is $149.99 and includes a special edition RC car and additional limited edition Hot Wheels cars in a display case.
Mario Kart: I loved it when I tried Home Circuit, but I’m having some technical issues and I hope Rift Rally can fix it. It’s also the studio behind the game, Knockout City, and we’ve learned that it will officially shut down in June.
