Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope
This Nintendo Switch exclusive is the sequel to the 2017 game Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. But instead of doing some copy-paste work, Ubisoft brings a number of big changes and improvements to this crossover sequel. Combat is more dynamic this time around, giving you a lot more leeway in your battle strategy, mainly thanks to the new movement mechanics that allow you to traverse the map quickly.
Also, sparks, creatures to collect and equip, are added to expand the character’s ability set. Sparks can do everything from adding elemental charges to attacks to reviving fallen teammates. If you play the cards correctly, you can equip each character with two of her sparks to create clever and powerful combos.
In his review of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, critic Dan Stapleton gave it a score of 9/10 and wrote:
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope takes Kingdom Battle’s excellent tactical combat ideas and executes them completely wild. The goofy characters still have the ability to bounce off each other, but they’re freed from a rigid grid and become wonderfully customizable thanks to the spark of mix-and-match, giving them new and definitely interesting powers. In , take your breath away in a large, brightly colored open world, solve light puzzles, and bewilder yourself with a quirky storyline. I’m very happy to play an ambitious sequel that fixes all the major problems of the original.
