Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope’s Score Combines the Powers of a Rockstar Trio of Composers

Mario + Rabbids: The Kingdom Battle had many aspects worth celebrating, including Donkey Kong’s Grant Kirkhope, Banjo Kazooie, and Perfect Dark’s fame. I already knew he was coming back to the Sparks of Hope, but today I found out that he was joined by two other highly talented game composers, Gareth Coker and Yoko Shimomura.

If you don’t recognize those names, you’ve definitely heard of their work. Coker has won numerous awards for his work in Ori and the Blind Forest and his subsequent sequel, Ori and the Blind Will. He also composed music for Ark: Survival Evolved and Immortals Fenyx Rising, and numerous tracks for multiple Minecraft expansion packs Dota 2 and Halo Infinite.

As for Shimomura, she is best known for her work in all Kingdom Hearts games, but has earned a lot of credits dating back to the 1980s. She composed music for many games such as Street Fighter 2, Breath of Fire, Live A Live, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Mana, Multiple Mario & Luigi Games, Xenoblade Chronicles, Radiant Historia, Final Fantasy 15. .. With her joining Coker and Carcope, it’s really a power trio of music.
