Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 introduces Venom to the world of Insomniac Games, but fans have been in a heated debate about the villain’s true identity.
Thanks to a new trailer released during Comic-Con 2023, it’s all but confirmed that the man (or goo) behind the mask is Harry Osborn. Harry Osborn is someone Insomniac set up as Venom by literally showing the symbiote at the end of the first game. obsessed with him
Some fans didn’t like the theory, so they tricked me into thinking it was a red herring. One Reddit user said earlier this year, “I hope he’s misdirected because Harry is such an easy choice.” “If Harry died as Venom, the goblin’s motive would be just revenge, but that’s a bit lame and cliché.”
Unless the trailer is a second red herring, though, it’s pretty clear that Harry is actually Venom. The trailer opens with Spidey’s best friend’s promise to “fix the world,” and ends with Venom’s gruff voice saying, “I’ll fix the world.”
